Watercolor

Watercolor painting is one of the most difficult mediums to master. I recommend, if you haven’t much experience with painting, that you consider acrylic or oil first. Of course, its totally up to you. A watercolor piece is so full of light and life. It requires a technique that is the opposite from painting with oils. Oils go from dark to light and watercolor goes from light to dark. Just as with oil, you work over the entire painting with your first layer. With watercolor, your first layer is the lightest. With repeated applications of light washes, your piece comes to completion. In this class, we’ll start with the basics. There will be a discussion about sketching out your image, washes, color behaviors, papers, brushes, and masks.
